So day 6, not the best of starts. As you’ll remember from Day 5 my attempt to book a flight in bitcoin failed and I spent the night stranded in Denver airport. Luckily, someone kindly bought me a new flight in exchange for some bitcoin. So, despite all that, I started the day armed with my coffee determined for the final leg of my journey to be more successful.
The Final Challenge
Overnight at the airport, I received the final challenge video from Ali at Fintech Finance; get a selfie at the Grand Canyon. I was excited at potentially visiting such an awesome place. Time to rely on the bitcoin community again – they hadn’t failed me yet.
I made a post on Reddit and in the morning before my flight, Katie replied and said she was willing to help me book a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon. I got on-board my flight a little stressed not knowing whether my helicopter tour would be possible.
Finishing in Style (with help from the bitcoin community)
After relaxing on the flight, I arrived at the Payments Race final destination; Vegas baby! Katie was there waiting for me at the airport and to top it off, the helicopter tour was booked! I was going to fly over the Grand Canyon!!!
Katie was so knowledgeable when it came to bitcoin and blockchain and told me all about what she was doing and I was so grateful for her help, I wouldn’t have been able to do Las Vegas without her, so thank you Katie and the rest of the bitcoin community!
She took me to the helicopter ride and we flew over the Grand Canyon together. Wow. Just wow. I got my selfie at the Grand Canyon (I was hoping for bonus points for being the only racer to fly over it). I sent the video to Ali and there it was, I had completed the final challenge and was in Las Vegas!
After the helicopter ride, I went to catch the end of the day at Money20/20. I met some cool people there and got to spend some time with iGTB, who I am so grateful towards for supporting me along the way, and I got to catch up with our friends at AEVI too.
I went to bed that night knowing I had arrived in Vegas, completed all the challenges and travelled across a whole continent spending only bitcoin! Tomorrow is the day I get to officially complete the race and see the other racers again, I can’t wait!
