Saturday began with a scour of the internet in the hope of finding an online store that accepted bitcoin and delivered to Singapore. This was my idea when I received Ali’s challenge on Day 3. Unfortunately, there didn’t seem to be any site that would do both. Disheartened, but never defeated, off I went into Chicago to explore.
After a monumental 20 hours in the hotel, I decided to ring Bucephalus Bikes again to see if the owner would meet me to discuss bitcoin. They were incredibly happy to help, and ordered me an Uber to Evanstown, where they are based, in exchange for bitcoin. The Uber driver, Charles, was incredibly kind and helpful and offered to stay outside the shop and wait for me to be finished, knowing that I wouldn’t not be able to get far with my bitcoin alone. I was in the shop for a while, without letting him know, so Charles eventually left. Sorry Charles!
After chatting to the shop owner and crew in general, I managed to complete my Chicago challenge. I got hold of an envelope and a card from Bucaphalus Bikes, wrote a message on it for my friend Anand, who is part of the great team at iGTB and who lives in Singapore (see picture). I’m coming to get it next year Anand – so keep it safe!
After having a great time with the guys in Evanstown, it was time to leave to catch my next flight from Chicago to Denver. A member of the team was brilliant and offered me a lift to the airport.
Once I arrived in Denver, I realised I hadn’t booked a hotel for the night, so again I reached out to the cryptocurrency crowd and sure enough someone booked me a hotel, in exchange for my bitcoin.
Once in the hotel, I crashed out, ready for what adventures day 5 would bring!
